Ever get that feeling that something is missing from your home made conditioner ? Well that was how i felt when i walked into the store in search of a conditioner a couple of weeks ago. Sometimes i would try on things like a mix of real edible mayonnaise with eggs ,olive oil , and avocado as my deep conditioner, and maybe add some essential oils ,whip it up and apply to my hair , but for the past 2 months i have been busy and hardly have time to do this on my own so i went into the store to buy one .
My intention was to get my usual conditioner which i
reviewed here ,but unfortunately it wasn't in stock so i ended up getting The Vital Olive Oil Hair Mayonnaise instead. First of all , what blew me away was the price for an 853g jar which was almost the same as the other one i reviewed above which is just 426g ,so i figured why not get it and try it out since i was getting more for the price.
This will be my first time using this conditioner and it is everything it says on the jar , really it does moisturise the hair , if you are relaxed or texlaxed and stretching your relaxer application ,you will know how important it is to keep them new growth soft and moisturised. I am 2 months into my stretch this week and I use it as a deep conditioner with my steam cap for about 30 to 40 minutes weekly,a little goes a long way.
The main ingredients in this jar are - Oat protein (which is important to the health of the hair),vitamins, egg protein (also important),olive oil, water, parsley flakes, peppermint leaf, carrot oil, cholesterol, menthol , camphor ,soy protein , glycerine.
The only down side to this product is that it contains SLS ( sodium lauryl sulfate ) ,methyl and propyl paraben,so for some of us who do not like to use products with these in them ,you may not want to make this your staple conditioner. I usually use shampoos without sls like the one here ,so it wouldn't make sense to settle for a conditioner with one , it defeats the purpose. For more pictures or if you would like to view the state of my hair currently visit my page here.
Anyway, i still can't get over the price of this conditioner, and to think that its such a huge jar that will last me for a long time before i go back to the other one.
Pros - Moisturises , Very affordable (N850 ) ,non greasy.
Cons - Contains Parabens and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.
